Have a HAPPY 4th of JULY, y'all!!!

I will be wrapping up all my summer school work as Tuesday's my last day of classes!

restless

Forgot how to count sheep...

{how many sheeples for me to fall asleep?}

I've been waking up in the middle of the night for the past few weeks now. Terrible nightmares haunt my brain as of late. SO OVER IT.

Here's a (bad) photo of our (awesome) new house...

{our lil' shotgun}

More photos later, including before and after shots!!!

the american dream

Being back in suburbia for the past few weeks has been very odd...

{my temporary neighborhood}

In case you hadn't heard, Matt & I are in the middle of buying a house. My dad has been so generous as to let us stay with him, as our mortgage company has proven to be a bunch of incompetent fools who can't seem to clear a loan. Although I truly appreciate the hospitality, I'm beginning to feel like this is a never-ending game of Paperboy...

{WORST.GAME.EVER.}

Below are some amazing images of suburbia in the 70's (by documentary photographer Bill Owens) that I have been enjoying lately:

{Um...seriously want that station wagon!}

{Block Party!!!}

{Don't mess...}

Here's a trailer for a documentary called "The End of Suburbia"...foreshadowing, maybe?!

obligatory greeting

{Hope it was a good one!}

3.21.2009

so happy together

CONGRATULATIONS to Katherine & Luke...

{Meet the newlyweds!!!}

Today was the most perfect day for the most beautiful wedding of the most adorable couple in the world. The sky was blue, the birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and the rednecks were honking and shouting, "DON'T DO IT!!!" out of their car windows as they drove by the outdoor ceremony. Ahhh, it's times like this that I remember just how classy Kentucky can be...

3.20.2009

it's been real...

GOODBYE, WINTER!!! I am not at all unhappy to see you go. Looking forward to more of this:

{my backyard, someday...}

And I just gotta get one of these:

{tandem umbrella}

In other news, we are in the process of looking for a H-O-U-S-E!!! More on that later. So stoked. I'm thinking something like this, just in time for Derby:

{plenty of room for friends!}

wild thing, I think I love you

Excellent article featuring one of my favorite musicians, Neko Case, in Sunday's New York Times Magazine:

NYT Magazine--- "Wild Thing"

I absolutely adore this photo from the article, showing Neko and the stray pianos (in various stages of disrepair) she used on her new album, Middle Cyclone, which comes out March 3rd...

Gorgeous voice, hauntingly beautiful music, flame red hair, and unapologetic D.I.Y. ethic...what more could you want?

Watch this and get goosebumps:

Too bad she's not coming any closer than Columbus, Ohio for her spring tour!!! Damn you, Louisville!!! Get your shizz together!!!

puppy love

Almost got engaged to a student in art class today...

7th grade boy: "How old are you?"
Me: "29...more than twice your age."
7th grade boy: (After doing the math) "You're 16 years older than me."
Me: "Yeah, thanks for making me feel old!"
7th grade boy: "I wish I was 16 years older."
Me: "You shouldn't wish that. Kids grow up too fast these days."
7th grade boy: (Looking at my ring) "How long you been married?"
Me: "Over 2 years."
7th grade boy: "You shoulda waited."
Me: "Shoulda waited for what?"
7th grade boy: (Winks at me) "You know, someone might wanna ask you to marry them."
Me: (Laugh uncontrollably.)

{Y'all know I'm not interested in turning into no Mary Kay Latourneau!}

regime change

Happy Inauguration!!!

Round trip airfare from Louisville to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration:
$318.00.

One night in a hotel room anywhere near The National Mall:
$407.00.

Linz weeping like a baby watching Obama's speech on T.V., wishing she was there:
PRICELESS.

Now I'd like to introduce to you my man Sam Cooke, and his song "A Change Is Gonna Come", perfect for this incredible turning point in our nation's history:

(Listen to the song on lastfm.com)

I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown
Somebody keep telling me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knocking me
Back down on my knees

Ohhhhhhhhh.....

There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
